Fresh from NYC’s United Solo Fest, Michael Thomas Walker’s tour-de-force BUBBA
Inspired by true events, Bubba opens in the Deep South and the audience is taken on a journey into the good-ole-days of Huntsville, Alabama. The play then episodically moves from one year to another as the audience learns about Walker’s father, Joe Walker. A survivor of polio at age 2, the play explores his incarceration for embezzling $181,000 from the probate judge less than 9 months after marrying Walker’s mother, his need to be well-liked, and his discovery that the polio has returned. Walker’s strained relationship with his father is revealed through multiple characters. A combination of song, dance, and heart-wrenching honesty, the play is Walker’s journey to examine his father’s life and mysterious death.
Michael Thomas Walker performed in The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Brooklyn Gallery Players under the revision of Rupert Holmes. He played the starring role of Horton in the national tour of Seussical.
